System Board Service Procedure (TP 240 - 2609)

Replacing the System Board: When you replace the System board, restore the system unit serial number using the VPD Data Utility and reassign the UUID using the Flash UUID Utility in the ThinkPad 240 CE Utility Diskette.

Note: Do not power off the computer while restoring the VPD.
  -Important Notice-
This computer uses special nylon-coated screws with the following characteristics:

•  They maintain tight connections.
•  They do not easily come loose, even with shock or vibration.
•  They need additional force to tighten.
•  They should be used only once.

   Do the following when you service this machine:

•  Have a screw kit (10L1956) available.
•  Always use new screws if you are instructed.
•  Use a torque screwdriver if you have one.
