Undetermined Problems
Undetermined Problems
You are here because the diagnostic tests did not identify
the failure, the Devices List is incorrect, or the system is
inoperative.
NOTE:
- If you suspect a software mismatch is causing
failures (solid or intermittent), be sure to see
'Resolving Resource Conflicts'.
- A corrupt CMOS can cause undetermined problems.
Check the LEDs on all the power supplies. If the LEDs
indicate the power supplies are working correctly, return
here and do the following:
- Power-off the computer.
- Be sure the system is cabled correctly.
- Remove or disconnect the following (one at a time)
until you find the failure (power-on the computer and reconfigure each time).
- Any external devices
- Surge suppressor device (on the computer)
- Modem, printer, mouse, or non-IBM devices
- Each adapter
- Drives
- Memory-Module Kits (Minimum requirement = 1 bank of 64 MB DIMMs)
- Secondary microprocessor VRM, if installed
Note:
Minimum operating requirements are:
Power Supply
Power AC Inlet Box
System Board (Use switch 7 on the switch
block on the system board to bypass the
power switch button. Also, verify that the
J10 connector is installed correctly.)
Memory-Module Kits (Minimum requirement = 1 bank of 64 MB DIMMs)
- Power-on the computer. If the problem remains,
suspect the following FRUs in the order listed:
- Power Supply
- Processor
- System Board
NOTE: If the problem goes away when you remove an
adapter from the system, and replacing that adapter
does not correct the problem, suspect the system
board then the processor.
