Preparing the Servers

Preparing the Servers

Before you configure Server A and Server B, do the following:
  1.  If necessary, perform any operating system shutdown procedure on the two servers, herein called Server A and Server B, you are  going to use in the cluster, then turn off the servers.

Note: If you are using the Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS),  determine which ServeRAID logical drive will be used as the quorum resource and the ServeRAID adapter pair  that it is connected to.
Then, connect the channel 3 connectors of that ServeRAID adapter pair together, using the appropriate cable options, to create  the SCSI heartbeat connection.
See the 'IBM Shared Disk Clustering Hardware Reference' for more information and part numbers.

  2.  If you have not done so, connect any shared external drive enclosures between both servers; then, turn on the enclosures.
