The Auto Wake 16/4 Token-Ring ISA 16-Bit-Adapter allows you to attach IBM Personal Computer systems, or IBM compatible computers AT or IBM Industriecomputers that meet ISA or EISA architecture, to a Token-Ring network.

The Auto Wake Token-Ring ISA Adapter transmit and receives data at a rate of either 4 or 16 Mbps over shielded twisted-pair /STP) or unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cable. The Auto Wake Token-Ring Isa Adapter can be installend in an 8-bit or 16-bit slot.

The adapter is compatible with industry-standard Plug and Play (PnP) BIOS, configuration managers, and operating system functions. However, PnP features are not required to use this adapter.

If the computer is enabled for PnP the installation is simplified. The PnP function greatly simplifies configuration of PnP adapters and PnP enabled systems. The LAN Adapter Installation and Diagnostic  Vers 2 (LANAID 2.0) works to simplify the installation and configuration of hard and software in an environment that is not PnP enabled.

Features of the Auto Wake Token-Ring ISA Adapter include:

The adapter comes with LANAID Vers.-2.0. This is an enhanced version of LANAID. Older versions of LANAID will not work with the Auto Wake Token-Ring ISA Adapter, however LANAID 2.0 will work with older IBM Auto 16/4 Token-Ring ISA adapters.

  Compatibility with Shadowing

If shadowing is in use, you should disable shadowing of BIOS (shadow RAM) or shadow cache for the memory (RAM and ROM) used by this adapter, if it is configurable with the System BIOS Configuration Setup Utility shipped with the system. In some machines yoou do not need to disable both the shadow RAM and shadow cache. This utility is usually accessed during power ON of the system with keystrokes that are unique to each manufacturer.
