The Type A-1
System Board
supports the Pentium processor and has the following features:
- P54C socket 7-ZIF connector. You must remove the old processor to
install an upgrade processor.
- 16 KB internal cache memory, and also supports up to 512 KB external
cache.
- Shared frame buffer of 1 MB or 2 MB of video DRAM.
- Shared frame buffer utilizes the Unified Memory Architecture which uses
the SIMM memory for both system and video. User selection of 1 MB
or 2 MB for video memory is available from the system setup.
- Four, 72-pin system memory module sockets support these memory
modules:
- 4 MB, 8 MB, 16 MB, or 32 MB SIMM modules.
- Parity (36 bit) or Non-Parity (32 bit) memory SIMMs.
- Memory speed of 60 nanoseconds (ns).
- Tin-lead contacts.
- Fast page mode or extended data out (EDO).
- Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM).
Depending on model, 8 MB, 12 MB, or 16 MB of system memory is
supplied. Maximum system board memory is 128 MB. Refer to
'System Memory' and to 'SIMM Configurations - Type A-1' in
System Board.
- Ports: video, parallel, serial (two), keyboard, and mouse.
- Connectors for:
- PCI/ISA riser card (2x106-pin)
- VESA Video Feature Bus (2x13 un-shrouded header). See 'VESA Local Bus Note' on page 1-6.
- Internal VGA display (2x7 shrouded header)
- Input power (12-pin)
- AT diskette drives (34-pin)
- Two 40-pin Enhanced IDE drive controllers: a primary local bus
IDE that supports two hard disk drives and a secondary Enhanced
IDE that supports a CD-ROM drive and one hard disk drive, or two
hard disk drives.
Note:
Enhanced IDE for the Type A-1 system board supports up
to Mode 4. Mode 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. are the progressive industry levels
for Enhanced IDE.
- Power light-emitting diode (LED)/hard disk LED (4-pin)
- Power-on switch 2-wire connector and a power supply auxiliary control
3-wire connector for Rapid Resume features.
- Wake Up on Ring connector for Rapid Resume automatic wake-up features.
- 12 volt speaker power connector.
- Lithium battery.
