Abstract: OS/2 WILL NOT RECOVER FROM BLACKOUT WHEN APM IS ENABLED

SYMPTOM:

Though not supported, if Advanced Power Management is enabled in Netfinity 3500-M10, it will cause a blackout after approximately 2 hours from which OS/2 cannot recover.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:

•  The system is a Netfinity 3500-M10 server, Type 8655, any Model.
•  The system is configured with 1 or 2 Processors.
•  The system's Diagnostics Pass.
•  The system is configured with OS/2, any version with any FixPak level.

FIX:

Advanced Power Management should be kept disabled in the setup options.

DETAILS:

Advanced Power Management is not supported on the Netfinity 3500-M10.
