Changing the position bypasses the power-on
password check if the jumper has been moved
since the server was last powered on.

No need to move back afterwards.
Does not affect the Administrator password check.

Processor Board Jumpers

Jumper Name Description
J22 - Reserved The default position is no jumper on J22

Note:

  1.  Turn off the server, and disconnect the power cords before moving any jumpers.
  2.  Be sure the microprocessor bus-to-core ratio is set correctly.  For example, if you have a 400MHz microprocessor installed and the system bus speed is  100MHz (the default), be sure that the microprocessor core frequency selection switch  block is set to a bus-to-core ratio of 4 (400/100) see below table.

Microprocessor Core Frequency Selection Switch (SW1) Settings

Core/Bus
Ratio
SW1-1 SW1-2 SW1-3 SW1-4
4 On On On Off
4.5 On Off On Off
5 On On Off Off

Memory-Module Kits

The server comes with a memory DIMM module installed on the processor board in connector J1.
The server supports a minimum of 128MB and a maximum of 2GB of system memory.
The memory-module sizes available for server 5500-M10 are 128MB, 256MB, and 512MB.

Install additional memory modules in connectors J2, J3, and J4, in that order.
If you mix DIMM sizes, install the largest sized DIMM in connector J1, the next large sized DIMM in connector J2, and so forth.

Install only 3.3V, 168-pin, 8-byte, registered DIMMs.
Only 100MHz, 72-bit, registered synchronous, error correcting code (ECC), x4 configuration DIMM memory is supported for the 128MB, 256MB, and 512MB DIMMs.

After install/remove any DIMM, you must save the new configuration information in the Configuration/Setup program. When you restart the server, the system displays a message indicating that the memory configuration has changed. Start the Configuration/Setup program and select Save Settings.
