Connector Locations

Connector Locations

This section provides illustrations of the channel connectors, cable connectors, and optional devices for the ServeRAID-3H and ServeRAID-3L adapters.

The light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on the adapters indicate activity on the SCSI channels and provide diagnostic information for trained service technicians.

ServeRAID-3L Adapter

The ServeRAID-3L adapter has two channel connectors: one internal and one external.
These channel connectors share the same SCSI bus.
You can attach SCSI devices to either the internal or external channel connector, but you cannot attach devices to both connectors simultaneously.

ServeRAID-3H Adapter

The ServeRAID-3H adapter has three independent SCSI channel connectors:
Channel 1, Channel 2, and Channel 3. Each of these SCSI channels support up to 15 physical devices.

You can attach internal SCSI devices to the Channel 3 connector,
and you can attach external SCSI devices to the Channel 1 and Channel 2 connectors.

If you want to attach external SCSI devices to the Channel 3 connector, use the following illustration to help you install the ServeRAID Channel 3 Cable option that comes with the adapter.
